EYE#11: I Can See Clearly Now

Happy Sunday everyone!!  I am super stoked to bring you this week’s challenge!

This sunday, I challenge you to dive into transparencies. They were a HUGE trend a few years ago…from overlays to full-on backgrounds. Whether you have a stash of Hambly or My Mind’s Eye frame overlays or Heidi Swapp ghost shapes…dust them off, pull them out and use at least 5 on a project.

In my layout below, Twelve, I used a transparency frame overlay but cut it in half and used it to draw attention to my photo in a way similar to how we use brackets.  Just because the overlays come in one shape does not mean we need to keep it this way to use!

Another example would be the red swirl on my page – it was a 4×6 overlay.  I simply cut around the image and used as part of my banner cluster. Feel free to cut off parts of the transparency elements that don’t work…the bursting with joy element in my banner, had a bunch of pattern details under the words that didn’t work for me, so i cut that portion off to use another day. Make your transparent shapes stand out a bit more with pop dots as used in the love this life embellishment or ink the edges as was done in the butterfly ghost shape.

Transparencies make unique and fun cards!  Simply use washi tape to hinge the transparency to a piece of cardstock cut to size. i added a chipboard element to the front outside of the transparency so the space for the sentiment inside isn’t visible upon receipt of the card.

So go!  Dive into those transparencies that have been left, forgotten amongst your stash!  We cannot wait to see what you do!
