Are You Ready!?

On Sunday, the maiden voyage begins!!

Of course, there have been hiccups along the way (with a good surprise at the end!). I posted my initial plan of a weekly challenge on Sunday. And of course, in accordance with Murphy and his stupid law, our sump pump died on Tuesday morning!! Luckily, my son was home and caught it early enough that the damage wasn’t too extensive.

Ironically, none of my scrapbooking supplies were damaged – it would have been one way to de-stash the stash! :)

However, we do need to replace the entire floor (including my studio floor!) which means that we are going to have to start packing up the bulk of our belongings so the recovery crew can move the furniture and lay new flooring!

So how am I supposed to challenge you when I can’t access any of my supplies?! Well, are you ready for the surprise?

After being pleasantly surprised by the support of this new challenge, I reached out to some of my closest friends and most inspiring people I know – my former Just Cre8 design team.

(If you didn’t know, I used to run a monthly scrapbooking kit company called Just Cre8. You can read more about my reasons for stopping when I did here, but some of the links fail because the website is no longer running.  Suffice it to say – I had a KICKA$$ team…)

So I touched base with Amanda, Holly, Jennifer, Lori, Melanie and Jessi.  And lo and behold, they were all excited to be a part of this whole crazy ride with me!!  Visit us next week when I will be introducing them!

And my beautiful friend, Jessi, has stepped up and offered to complete the project that I would probably not get to!!  Thank you, J!! *muah*

So please join us this Sunday for our first challenge!

My studio in 2012 – probably the last time it was this clean!

This weekend, I spent two days sorting, organizing and rearranging my paper crafting and art supplies.

I am one of those crafters who needs to have a clean slate – that means that I return products to their homes and clear my working space before starting another project.  As I unpacked crop supplies and purchases, organized monthly kits and cleared paperwork off my worktable, I thought about how many pages I could be creating in that time.

I also realized that it was highly unlikely that I would use all of the 144 sheets of alphabet stickers (not to mention the box of chipboard letters).  I had to face reality and admit that I just had Too. Much. Stuff.

There.  I said it.  After years of subscribing to the mantra that you can never have too much stuff, I realized that yes, you can.

And so, I started this blog, Exhaust Your Excess (or E.Y.E., for short!), hoping that there are others out there who are tired of spending time and energy on organizing their hoard of supplies and want to get more scrapping done.  And who believe that you don’t have to use the newest products to create beautiful, meaningful pages.

How It Will Work:

Each Sunday, I will post a challenge that will hopefully encourage you to release your inhibitions and free up the reins on your supplies.  You will post a link to your project in your comment on the challenge post and at the end of the month, I will draw a winner from the month’s participants.  Of course, the prize will not be more scrapbooking supplies (that would be counterproductive!), but I will send the winner a little somethin’!

In an effort to encourage people to play along, I am offering a $15 Tim Horton’s or Starbucks gift card to one lucky winner!  Simply share this on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, Google+, etc and leave me a comment (with a link to your share) to earn a ballot for each share!

Please be sure to tag me with your share and to link to this blog!
