EYE#17 | Throwback Stash

Hello! It’s Jennifer this week!

I have been scrapbooking almost 11 years now and have been hoarding the whole time! All those special things I did not want to use -you probably all have your own reasons for having a stash. My excuses have been either I bought too much of something, I loved a piece of paper and I could not possibly use it, or I was scared that I would use something I liked and I would never find it again.

Well it’s time for me to use them….I dug in and took some of those items and made a layout. This is my throw back layout! I also included the theme of throwback into the photo and the title of the layout. My niece was into this tie dye t-shirt this summer, flip flops and cut off shorts. With her long hair tied back with braids she reminded me of an updated version of the 70’s flower child. Thus, the title Flower Power.

Supplies used: Rouge de Garance patterned paper, Prima Paintable paper, Basic Grey pocket, SEI chipboard, Recollections Alpha and plastic items, unknown bling.

First I started by water colouring the Prima Paper and cutting out the flowers. Water colouring on a layout was a technique that I used to do more. I seemed to have got away from it as it is a bit time consuming, but it lends more of a personal touch to any layout. I tend to cut slits into paper flowers that I cut out along the edges of the leaves so I can manipulate them into more 3 dimensional flowers.

The background paper is Rouge de Garance…..wow throwback for sure…..I think that paper is probably at least 9 years old.

I arranged everything and embellished with SEI chipboard that has a retro feel. Also very, very old stash! I used plastic flowers for the title, while they are new, they remind me of those ones we used to be able to get, I think they were called “alphabet soup”?

The card holder is new, from Basic Grey, it fit perfectly with the back ground paper. The journaling is on the backside of the card as it would fight with the title of the layout. It can be pulled out by the little green chipboard on the corner.

Well that is my layout for this week. I hope you come and play along this week, dig out all that unused but loved paper, embellishments and techniques.
